Flying Pigs Farm evolved out of a desire to protect a large tract of beautiful farmland from inappropriate development. 150 acres of agricultural fields, forest, streams and were threatened when Mike Yezzi purchased the property to preserve its historic agricultural nature. However, the challenges of maintaining such an significant amount of land quickly became clear, and in the year 2000, the first three pigs were introduced. The following year, fourteen pigs called this acreage on the Battenkill River their home, and Flying Pigs Farm debuted in the New York City Greenmarkets at Borough Hall in the fall of 2001. Flying Pigs is now home to 1000 beautiful rare-breed heritage pigs who work round the clock to preserve this exquisite expanse of valley 200 miles north of NYC.
